1. Who we are
Word Scramble '95 is operated by Elliot Smith in New Zealand. This policy applies to the Word Scramble '95 mobile application and related services.
2. Information we collect
We collect or receive the following information when you use the app:
- Account information: if you sign in, our authentication provider may provide an account identifier, email address, and account profile information such as your name.
- Public player information: the player name you choose to display in the app and on community leaderboards.
- Gameplay information: scores, game mode, puzzle date, words or word lengths used to verify a result, longest-word records, streaks, badges, rank progress, and leaderboard results.
- Device-stored information: game progress, settings, and local statistics saved on your device so you can continue playing.
- Technical information: limited request and diagnostic information that may be processed by our hosting and authentication providers, such as timestamps, device or browser details, and IP address.
You can play anonymously. Anonymous play uses a technical participant identifier for scoring and verification rather than your name or email.
3. How we use information
- Provide, maintain, and improve the game.
- Authenticate accounts and synchronize progress across sessions or devices.
- Verify scores and help keep community rankings fair.
- Display player-selected names and results on community leaderboards.
- Respond to support requests and investigate errors, abuse, or security issues.
- Meet legal obligations and protect the service and its users.
We do not sell personal information and do not intentionally collect information for third-party advertising.
4. When information is shared
We share information only as needed to operate Word Scramble '95:
- Clerk: provides account authentication and session services. Your sign-in information is handled according to Clerk's Privacy Policy.
- Replit and service providers: host the API, database, and related infrastructure used to operate the game.
- Public community features: your chosen player name and qualifying score may appear on a leaderboard. Your email address is not displayed there.
- Legal and safety requests: when disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, or security.
5. Storage, security, and retention
Information is transmitted using secure HTTPS connections and is stored with access controls provided by our hosting, database, and authentication services. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
We keep account and gameplay information while it is needed to provide the service, maintain rankings, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. You can delete your account from Settings while signed in, or request deletion using the contact details below. Deleting an account removes its synced profile and public leaderboard attribution. Some anonymous aggregate information may remain where needed for leaderboard integrity. Some information may also remain where retention is required by law.
6. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and to ask how it is used or shared. You may also stop using the app and remove locally stored information by clearing the app's data or uninstalling it.
To make a privacy request, email Ejcs120@gmail.com. Please include enough information for us to identify your account, but do not send a password or authentication code. If you can access the app, the fastest option is Settings → Delete account.
7. Children
Word Scramble '95 is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
8. International processing
Our service providers may process information in countries outside New Zealand. Where this happens, we use providers that are expected to apply appropriate safeguards to the information they process.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. When we do, we will update the effective date on this page. If a change is significant, we will take reasonable steps to draw attention to it.
